OWNERS COMMENTS: Crossroads just returned from an eighteen month Caribbean cruise that has taken us island hopping from St. Petersburg, FL to Trinidad and back. We are returning to land to work in Memphis, TN and hope to pass her on to the next dreamers looking to what’s over the horizon.

Designed by some of the same folks that now bring you Island Packet Yachts and built in the yard that now makes Caliber yachts, the Endeavour 40 is an attractive, comfortable and well built cruising yacht. (It’s also what Don Johnson’s character; Crocket lived on in the TV show Miami Vice.)

The stable and secure center cockpit design places the crew away from the pitching ends of the boat and further from exhaust fumes. I have been prone to seasickness on other boats, but did fine on this one. Port and Starboard 6’ 4” straight (not curved or  “L’ Shaped) settees make excellent sea births and are in the center of the boat to further reduce pitching motion. The four large overhead hatches have allowed us to stay below in comfort when other cruisers were driven to their cockpits by the heat. Navigation is a snap with the large helm-mounted chart plotter/radar and weather information is as close as the Single Side Band radio (call Chris Parker for custom forecasts).

With large water, diesel and propane tanks, we were able to cruise for long stretches without needing a full service port. The boat also has tons of stage space including four

Hanging lockers and the six roomy drawers under the settees. These drawers pull out to access a can-height storage area that runs the length of both settees. We brought dive gear for two (with tanks), a sewing machine, cameras, computer, tons of tools (power and hand), spare everything and enough food and books to last for months—we just kept finding more places to put stuff.

It seemed like the further South we got, the more we felt we had chosen the right boat. Center Cockpits rule and 40’ seems to be about the right size for most cruisers. The little marina/boatyard we stayed at in Trinidad had six Endeavours- three of them 40’s.

Crossroads has taken us safely to far shores and given us a lifetime of memories.

  • Crispy Cracked Conch in the Bahamas
  • Climbing waterfalls in the Dominican Republic
  • Carnival in St. Maarten
  • Exploring lush Jungles in Dominica
  • French wine and cheeses on Martinique
  • The wonderful people and nutmeg ice cream in Grenada
  • Watching a massive leatherback turtle lay her eggs at night on a beach in Trinidad.

Crossroads is ready to take you to the horizons you dream to explore.  Check out Crossroads complete cruising story at   www.sailcrossroads.com

Enjoy,

Glenn and Michele Phillips
